How It All Started
I never had a boat before moving to a lake in January of 2012. I soon picked up a 1992 Maxum 1800XR bowrider with a 115 HP outboard for everyday boating, and started learning how to work on boats. I kept seeing this little low-riding 2-person mini-pontoon boat with a 25 HP outboard scooting around the lake and it looked like a lot of fun. One day online I saw some pictures of mini-boats like the Mercury Water Mouse and the GW Invader, and decided I really wanted one of these things, like a go-kart on the water. I started looking on craigslist (of course), and quickly found a mini-boat in Plymouth MA with a 35 HP Johnson (no trailer) for $400. I went to see it, but I had absolutely no clue how much work it was going to be to fix the thing up, and I had zero experience restoring boats or doing fiberglass work. I bought it anyway on an impulse, on June 26th, 2014. I didn't do much with it until the spring of 2015, and completed it on September 24th, 2016. Shown below are pictures from day 1, and from day 821.
